The mission of Dismas of Vermont (DOV) is to reconcile formerly incarcerated individuals with society and society with formerly incarcerated individuals. Join us to create a more just, safe, and productive Vermont.
Why we do this work:
We believe people can change and should not be identified by the worst day of their lives.
We know that without the support of the staff and the community, most formerly incarcerated individuals will likely end up involved with the criminal justice system again. Individuals engaged with Dismas have a recidivism rate of less than 10%.
We believe we can make lasting change in how the formerly incarcerated are viewed in their communities by providing a fresh start, a hand up, and a community that supports them as valued members of society.
