Katy has over 7 years in the human services field and has dedicated her professional career to working with individuals who struggle with substance use disorder in a variety of settings: inpatient, outpatient, street outreach, long-term supportive services, and recovery coaching. Katy completed the Recovery Coach Academy in 2021 and obtained her national certification as a recovery coach. She is also trained in motivational interviewing and trauma-informed tools.
"As a person in long-term recovery, I believe that everyone has their own path to rebuilding their lives and becoming a part of society again. Fostering connections with individuals and acting as a 'resource broker' has always been important in my work to help others feel connected and like they are 'part of' again. My years of experience have helped me to take my own struggles and give them purpose by helping others."
In addition to her work with Dismas, which began in 2026, she volunteers for the local Alcoholics Anonymous community, and currently holds the position of Corrections Chair in the district. "Service work is an important part of my recovery, so in the time I have when my service isn't towards being a mom of 3, I help out where I can to support newcomers to the program of AA."
