Rich has over 15 years of experience in the fields of behavioral healthcare and education. His previous roles include social services director, adjunct professor, content editor, and drug and alcohol counselor. He began his career at Beverly Healthcare, taught Sociology, Psychology, and Human Growth and Development at Westmoreland County Community College, worked with adjudicated adolescents at Pyramid Healthcare, and designed and implemented a statewide electronic medical records system in Pennsylvania.
In 2013, he was diagnosed with a rare tumor that caused significant deficits, including partial paralysis. "My personal recovery, while unable to work, depending on disability benefits, and receiving support from so many amazing people along the way, taught me as much about the importance of kindness, compassion, and helping others. That is why I returned to the workforce when I felt ready, with a mission to help others the way others helped me."
In addition to his paid work, he has a long history of volunteering for his community's Salvation Army Open Door Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry and All Saints Parish Food and Clothing Drive. He is a proud member of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
